"My work is narrative, figurative and psychological. I create worlds on paper inhabited by women and children engaged in the full spectrum of human behavior—though more often on the problematic end of that spectrum. My work, while not autobiographical, is driven by my personal experiences as a woman, person of color and immigrant; I constantly think about the intersection of the personal and social, and the fluidity of identities and roles. I am interested in also language, anthropology, histories and mythologies across various cultures."
